The premise.

• He picks up Iris, who is silent and gives an address he never reaches.
• Iris is gone from the seat at a light; her phone rings from the locked trunk.
• Sam realizes she is in the trunk, and the two blocks between are blank in his memory.
• The same withheld number calls the trunk phone repeatedly through the night.
• Iris says the caller is the reason she is there, and the caller knows Sam’s name.

Main characters.

• Sam — M, 31, rideshare driver. Quiet, observant, and quietly drowning in debt he drives nights to escape. Remembers routes, not faces, which is exactly the hole the night exploits.
